From Shed to Tiny House!
My adventure began when my daughter suggested looking into going tiny and putting whatever I chose on her property. She sent me a few links to look at when she ran across a place that had various styles of shed type buildings constructed of wood. So we set a day that our work schedules allowed.
Since I am just outside Houston, TX she took me to a place located in New Caney, TX called Portable Buildings. Here’s the link. http://portablebuildingdepot.com/
They have numerous styles of buildings to choose from and will build it to your exact specifications. No pressure selling either. The two salesmen I dealt with are Audie and Rick. They both told me that a lot of their customers turned the sheds into tiny houses, so I wasn’t the first. So very helpful and answered every question I had and worked within my budget. The best part is that the buildings are rent to own. Perfect for someone with less than perfect credit.
I chose the Barn Style building with a loft that I turned into my sleeping area. https://tinastinyliving.com/2020/09/13/the-loft-craziness/. It takes about two weeks to build and then they call you to set up delivery on your schedule.
On the day of delivery, I was so excited!!! I’m on a rural road so I was extremely curious how they were going to bring this building in. The delivery guy called and said he was on his way. About 30 minutes later I hear a semi and see him going behind our property. Not good because I knew of no way for him to turn around. But he managed to get turned around and my grandson and I ran down to where he was suppose to turn to get to me. Luckily we are on a dead-end road so no worries about traffic.
That’s my oldest grandson in the top picture supervising lol. He was fascinated by how my building was being set up to exactly where I had staked it out. Second picture is my middle grandson. I was like a kid on Christmas morning . My adventure was about to begin; going from shed to tiny house!!
